Technical description Renault 16 TS 1968 GEARBOX The gearbox is also made out of aluminium and can be split vertically in two parts. All four gears forward are being synchronised. The first and second gear are – having to develop a larger torque – extra strengthened. The diaphragm like clutch is operated through a Bowden cable. Crown wheel and pinion deliver the power through the drive shafts onto the front wheels. The drive shafts have each one inner- and one outer joint. The latter is the homokinetic type; the first is being lubricated through the gearbox casing.
